Running From God

Jonah 1:1-3. Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.” But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so, he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.
People run from God all the time. How long did God pursue you before you accepted His gift of grace? Even those who follow Christ run from God time to time. Why do we do this? I’m not sure, we tend to think we know what is best for us. Jonah did not obey God’s command and tried his best not to do as he was told, he did not feel that the people in Nineveh deserved to be forgiven. He traveled as far away from Nineveh as he could, but God pursued Jonah and used some extraordinary measures to get his attention. No matter how far we run from God He will pursue us and bring us back into His will.
