When Everything Is Against You

“And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.” 2 Chronicles 20:3
Jehoshaphat with filled with fear and turned in prayer to the Lord, and not just prayer but fasted. He did not do this alone, he proclaimed or called the whole country to fast and pray. He did this after hearing that not one country was coming after them, not two but three countries were on the verge of overrunning them. This was not done in a last-ditch effort out of desperation in a hollow attempt to gain favor with God.
Have you ever felt that everything was against you? A day where the weight of the world is crushing you beneath its foundation. Not only are things not going right but everyone is against you.
We are to surrender to God. We are to rely on Him for our provisions and safety. This is what Jehoshaphat did along with all of Judah. They went prayerfully to God and praised Him and praised the promises that He had made to them and Israel. God’s promises are for us also. His provisions and protection extend to all of His children. Do not allow your circumstance or the problems of the day to cloud your love and faithfulness to God. The promises of God may seem long gone or far out of reach when we read 2 Chronicles. These were specific promises made to Israel. However, we have something that Jehoshaphat didn’t see. A savior that truly cares for you.
God sent Jesus into this world to pay our debt on the cross. His blood as payment for our sins. A righteous life for unrighteous people. On the days that you feel that no one loves you, or that everyone is against you. Remember that God so loved the world that He gave his only son. But that also Jesus loved us so much that we were on His mind in the last hours of His life. Look in John 17 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” Jesus prayed for us!!
His concern is for our well-being in His darkest hour. His love for us is so great that His prayer for all to be united with Him to spend eternity with Him. No matter what you may face in this life, be reassured that your God, your Savior loves you and prays for you. If you do not know this love or peace, then is it time to turn your eyes to the creator and our provider so that His prayer for you may be answered.
